Welcome to Crow’s Foot Farm. I’m excited to begin this new year with my new website, offering my original patterns for traditional hooked rugs. I hope you’ll look around and see what’s here.
Crow’s Foot Farm is located on a piece of beautiful farmland in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Perry County is a bit “behind the times” and I love it that way. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was the home of Magdalena Briner Eby, whose hooked rugs are emulated and loved by many. Life moves a little slower here and there’s plenty of time to stop and smell the roses.
Today the roads are still shared with Amish buggies, vegetable stands dot the summertime roadsides, and rolling hills and farmlands are all around. It is from this beauty that I derive many of my rug designs. Nature and birds… big birds… owls, raptors, corvids…. the ones that command the sky, are my forte, but I am also influenced by my trips to Cape Cod. There’s a lot of beauty out there!
Today there is snow everywhere and that is another kind of quiet beauty. It’s a perfect day to stay inside and work on my latest project, a Halloween piece called, The Recipe. But more on that later…..
As I go along, I’ll introduce you to the denizens of Crow's Foot Farm. For now, I’d just like to say, “Welcome. Stop in often and see what’s happening at Crow’s Foot Farm. I’ll be adding new patterns, too. After all, hooking rugs is what I do!”
