Last week was a busy week filled with October fun. The annual Garlic Dinner at Sweet Remembrances Tea Room, an “Into the Woods” themed Breakfast Club here, and a Witch Feast at the Olde Log Cabin Homestead, really capped off the month in style.
I did manage to get a bit of hooking done on Be Mine, my challenge rug for the Out of Hand Rug Hookers group on Facebook, and actually finished all but the binding. I’m planning a new (for me) finishing technique. Because the basket has been prodded into the back of the linen, so that the ends of those wool strips are exposed, I think I’ll use a piece of wool to cover the entire back and fold around the edges onto the front. Just thinking about using a fairly large hunk of wool for this makes me break into a sweat. But let’s be realistic, I really do have plenty of wool. Tubs and tubs of it. So, I’ll take a deep breath and choose a piece to match either the dark brown background or maybe a red in the border. I’ll do some kind of sewn edge, too. I’m really having fun with this piece!
More hooking projects are looming on the horizon, so I’d better just keep moving forward. With the holiday season coming up there will be many interruptions to my rug schedule.
There’s a lot of beauty out there and in days filled with fun and creative activities.
