Hearts.

When Valentine’s Day rolls around I think about hearts.  I love hearts as a design motif and I’m actually surrounded by hearts all year ‘round.  My house is filled with them.

I was recently asked to design a welcome mat for a fellow rug hooker. Now, I’m all for using my hooked rugs on the floor - they are rugs, after all – but I’ve never made an actual welcome mat.  I would hope that no one would actually wipe dirty shoes on it!

Because I wasn’t given any design suggestions except for the obligatory word, “Welcome”, I decided to add hearts to the design. Surely, hearts convey a welcoming feeling.  I'm calling this design, Hearts and Vines.

I think I’ll hook up one of these for the door into my studio.  It’s an interior door, so no dirty shoes will be wiped on it.

There’s a lot of beauty out there and these crisp, cold days are filled with it!
