Q: What do you get when you put 200 rug hookers in the same room?
A: A fantastic day of sharing, laughing, shopping, eating, networking, and just plain FUN!
The Woolwrights held their annual March hook-in last Saturday. They always do such a great job with the organization of this fun gathering. I saw many people I know, but only get to see once a year or so, and I made a number of new friends. I even managed to finish binding my The Fox and the Grapes rug.
There was a rug show filled with beautiful rugs. Being in my Aesop’s fable mode, I took my The Fox and the Crow rug to hang in the show. I was having too much fun to take many photos, but I did take a few snaps of the swap mat entries. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the name of the woman who won my pizza. I hope she will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed hooking it. I received the Sushi mat, which I love with the pearl bead bubbles. It was designed and hooked by Joyce Rickenbach. Joyce wasn’t there when we did the swap, but if she’s reading this… Thank you, Joyce, I love it!
Another really great thing that happened right before I had to leave, was that I won the Name That Wool contest run by wool dyer extraordinaire, Jan Cole, of Wool ‘n Gardener. I walked away with a half yard of exquisite wool that I had named, Dark and Stormy. Thank you, Jan! I love Jan’s wool and did buy a beautiful array of wool for a future rug. Jan’s wool even smells amazing.
Thanks to all the Woolwrights for another really excellent day. I’m already looking forward to next year.
There’s a lot of beauty out there and in a room full of rug hookers.
