There was a very large and exciting response to this book giveaway. Thanks to all who entered. Congratulations go to Bernice Scaggs, who is the lucky winner of Paulette Hackman’s new book, Story Rugs and their Storytellers [presented by Rug Hooking Magazine and published by Ampry Publishing]. Bernice made the comment, “love to have this book and also love to read your blog “ [excellent comment, Bernice!] With some inspiration from this book, I’m sure that this lucky lady will be planning her story rug very soon. [Bernice, please either private message me on Facebook or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your mailing address.]
If you are interested in buying a copy of this book, visit Rug Hooking Magazine’s website and order a copy. It will be a good resource for telling your story in a hooked rug. Create a wonderful family heirloom for future generations. Do it in your own style and make it personal. Have fun!
This past week was a busy one. Now that the sun has decided to appear, outdoor chores were a priority. The beautiful weather also drew me outside to just sit and enjoy nature. Honoring Nature is where I find inspiration and spiritual fulfillment. I had become busy with things in my life and had let that important aspect drift away.
I also got more hooking done on It’s All Black and White. Once I do the main part of this rug, I think I’ll set it aside while I ponder what to do with the rather large border area. Sure, I could make the border narrower, but I want the outer dimensions of the rug to fit on the wall at the head of our bed. I admit that I am at times a “practical artist”. I have enough rugs rolled up and on a closet shelf. I prefer to see and use them!
I will be designing and hooking a special rug for my granddaughter’s Waldorf school auction happening next March. I have ideas percolating in my head and I can’t wait to get started. This will not be a secret rug, so stay tuned and see what I come up with. More on this project in weeks to come.
There’s a lot of beauty out there and in honoring our personal stories.
