On the road again.

[Cue Willie Nelson] as we get on the road again to Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been to this big, fun rug hooking event, but it never gets old.  I think I’m organized with what I am bringing.  I try to be as sparing as possible, since I hitch a ride with Deb Smith.

Once we arrive today, we will jump out of the van, take our belongings to our rooms and then rush over to Founders Hall, where we will set up the Rug Hooking Magazine booth, and start hanging the Celebration rugs.  Nancy Parcels will join us and our team will be complete!

This busy week will rush by in a flash, but I hope to snap some photos with my trusty iPad, Tinkerbell, and post them on my Crows Foot Farm Designs FB page.

Please stop at the RHM booth and say hello.  Hope to see many of you there!

There’s a lot of beauty out there and in a huge gathering of rug hookers in Ohio.

I think this is a modest pile, although it doesn’t contain my clothes' bag. But still….

Looking ahead.

Is it wrong for me to be so glad that the summer is moving along quickly?  It has been a wicked hot and humid one and I can’t help yearning for the crisp, cool days of autumn.

I’m also looking forward to going to Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio, just two weeks away.  It’s a busy, often tiring, week, but I can’t wait to get there!

I’ll be volunteering to help woman the Rug Hooking Magazine booth, hanging the Celebration rugs, taking a workshop with Lisanne Miller and a dye class with Nancy Parcels, and then helping to take down the hundreds of rugs in the rug show on the last day.  Phew!

I’ll be taking my It’s All Black and White rug for the rug show.  It features our late Boston terrier, Ikey, in the perennial garden.  I hope many of you will be there to experience this fun and inspiring week.

My rug hooking is still on hiatus as I enjoy house guests and family time.

There’s a lot of beauty out there and in the anticipation of things to come.

It’s All Black and White. Ikey will take a posthumous trip to Sauder Village.

On the road to Sauder Village.

Off I go today with Deb Smith for the always-exciting Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio.  The van is loaded with everything needed for the Rug Hooking Magazine booth, plus our bags, rugs, frames, wool - well, you get the idea.

During this week, I’ll try to post some photos from Sauder Village on my Crow’s Foot Farm Designs LLC Facebook page.  I’ll be taking a two-day workshop with Meryl Cook, called Hook a Healing Mat. And I’m excited to take Nancy Parcels’ evening class making a brooch.  Nancy is very talented making wearable art, so that will be fun!

I’m looking forward to seeing the Maud Lewis exhibit of rug adaptations of her painting AND some of her original art, as well.

Before hitting the road, a group of Magdalena Rug Hookers hung our rug show titled, Modern Magdalena, at the Landis House in Newport PA.  Our group did angel rugs and there are a variety of interpretations on that theme plus other rugs with different subject matter.

The opening reception was this past Friday and we had a nice turnout of community members. For those of you who live locally, the hours of the Landis House are Wednesday and Friday 1pm – 5pm and also the first Saturday of the month 1pm – 4pm.  The show will be up through November 3rd.

There’s a lot of beauty out there and in this week of rug hooking fun.

On the road to Sauder Village Rug Hooking Week.

I'm on the road today as I travel to Archbold, Ohio for one of my favorite events of the year. I look forward to this week all year long.  If you’ve never gone to Sauder Village Rug Hooking Week,  put it on your bucket list or better yet, find your way there this week [August 15 - 19].

This is the biggest and best rug hooking show.  Last year there were more than 700 rugs on display.  With many retreats and workshops for rug hookers of all levels of experience., the sense of excitement and camaraderie is palpable.

As we have done for several years now, Nancy Parcels and I will be volunteering our spare time with Deb Smith at the Rug Hooking Magazine booth. It’s such a fun way to see old rug hooking friends and make new ones.

I will be taking Nancy Parcels’ dye demonstration on Thursday and a workshop with Capri Jones on Saturday.  The rest of my time will be at the booth, or looking, mingling, and shopping.  Oh yes, there’s always time for shopping!

Please stop by and say hello.  I’ll be wearing one of my Rug Hooker name tags made by the talented husband of Janine Broscious.  If you don’t have one of these colorful name tags yet, you can order one here or I’m pretty sure Janine and her hubby will be at Sauder Village with their 3-D printer.

There’s a lot of beauty out there and in the company of enthusiastic rug hookers.
